UNISSUED DIPLOMAS
When your classroom turns into a battlefield, your major becomes bravery.

WHAT'S
THE PROJECT ABOUT?
We created this exhibition to remind the world about the ongoing war and the price Ukrainians pay daily in their fight for freedom. "Unissued Diplomas" honours the memory of Ukrainian students who will never graduate because their lives were taken by the russian invasion.
The "Unissued Diplomas" exhibition uncovers the stories of 36 Ukrainian students killed in the war. It will be held in 45+ universities worldwide on February 24, which marks the anniversary of the day all Ukraine woke up from explosions.

NEVER GRADUATED, ETERNALLY HONORED
HALL OF DIPLOMAS
They used to spend their days in study halls. They had favourite classes and those they dreaded weekly. And how scary it was for them to even think of failing a midterm.
But after February 24, everything changed for Ukrainian students. Classrooms turned into bomb shelters and battlefields. Fears changed its course and bravery took control.
Now, diplomas of some will never be issued. Because russia took the lives of their to-be owners in its attempt to take Ukraine's freedom.

THE MISSION
It is our honour to spread the life stories of the courageous students who would still be here if it wasn’t for the russian invasion.
We believe in taking action when the freedom of our country is at stake.
THE TEAM
Girls and boys, students and graduates, in Ukraine and abroad — all 50 of us are quite different. But we united in our goal to commemorate the lost lives of Ukrainian students and remind the world that the full-scale war still goes on. And it takes innocent lives daily, student or not.
Co-organizer of the “Unissued Diplomas” project is SUSK — Ukrainian Canadian Students’ Union.
SUSK is a student organization which advocates concerns relevant to Ukrainian Canadian students. You can learn more about them at SUSK website.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

-
Were only 36 students killed? No, the full-scale russian invasion has taken more student lives, as, in total, more than 6000 civilians and 13 000 soldiers have been reported killed since February 24, 2022. The exact number of students among them is unknown, considering that losses keep increasing every day.
-
Are exhibitions free to attend?Yes, exhibitions are free of charge. However, you are welcome to donate, as we want to support financially Ukrainian students who stay in Ukraine and sacrifice their time and education to work for Ukraine's freedom.
